I was fairly confident by looking at the pictures that this was basically just a shelter-shaped plastic poncho with stakes to hold it up. It's actually made of a decent tent fabric which seems rather strong. You get what you pay for, but personally I think this is perfect for my "Bug Out Bag" (which is actually just a tactical vest with a camelbak), because I'd rather sleep in this thing than a natural shelter any day I can. It comes in its own relatively high quality carrying case and is small enough to fit in a backpack and very lightweight. I love that the packed width is no wider than me with my vest on so there's no further hindering of movement. I have an equally small blanket and pad and the three together are a barely noticeable life saver strapped to the back of my vest. I'm sorry to say that I haven't tried it in the rain yet, but when I get some time I'll probably go set it up and take the hose to it and edit this review.Other than that, I think the best... Tent is well made of lightweight material. Easy to set up. Im 6' tall and I fit in it just fine, plus room for my large ruck. People who complain about tents not being waterproof are unaware that just about every tent needs to be sprayed down with waterproofing before first use, and once a year thereafter. Its light and easy to carry. I roll mine up in my sleeping pad and strap it to my ruck. Its waterproof, if you waterproof it. Its roomy enough for most people. It will keep bugs and dew off of you, and it will last you a while if you take care of it. Bottom line is I reccomend it, and I have eight years Army infantry experience. |
